Dame Irene Wardasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that in the North of England it was common practice to sell pre-packed potatoes in ¼ stones and ½ stones and that the pre-packing of potatoes under the Weights and Measures Act 1963 is 1 lb., 1½ lb., and 5 lb.; and whether he will introduce amending legislation to conform with northern tradition.
