RobinsonAny new hormone preparation promoted commercially would be subject to checks by the Committee on Safety of Drugs before clinical trials or marketing and hence before general use in the National Health Service. The pituitary hormone extract for the treatment of infertility is available only in extremely small quantities and it is used in this country in investigations carried out by the United Birmingham Hospitals in association with the Medical Research Council.
