§ Mr. Bostonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, what has been the outcome of his discussions with the National Farmers' Union on the means of ascertaining the views of growers on the proposed Apple and Pear Development Council.
§ Mr. PeartTo assist me in deciding whether to seek Parliamentary authority for the establishment of a Development Council for the apple and pear growing industry, I have decided to seek directly the views of the growers who would be called upon to meet the cost of such a council. My Department will send these growers an individual inquiry by post towards the end of the year when the work of harvesting the apple and pear crops has been completed.
