HC Deb 04 August 1965 vol 717 c374W
Mrs. Margaret Thatcher

asked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he has received from the Federation of British Industries in connection with his announcement that the minimum value of machines eligible for relief from import duty is to be raised to £3,000; and whether he will now reconsider his decision.

Mr. Redhead

The Federation of British Industries has made represenations asking that this decision should be reconsidered. For the reasons given in my right hon. Friend's Written Answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Swansea, West (Mr. Alan Williams) on 21st June, my right hon. Friend is satisfied that the change is necessary.
