§ Mr. BoydenBuilding maintenance cost the country £900 million in 1964 and accounted for about one-third of the construction industry's total labour force. In view of its importance, my right hon. Friend proposes to set up a small standing committee under my chairmanship, with members drawn from the construction industry and associated professions, and with the following terms of reference:
"To keep under continuous review the problems involved in the maintenance of buildings, including the relationship between design and maintenance; to make recommendations regarding the dissemination of existing knowledge in these fields; to identify priorities for research and development; and to make proposals for studies."
