§ 48. Sir T. Beamishasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will give details of the official reports he has received of the houses of British nationals serving in the Sudan being searched and their owners interrogated on the orders of the Sudan Government; what charges have been framed against British subjects; and what instructions he has given about the involvement of British nationals in the armed services or stationed for other reasons in the Sudan in current or planned Sudanese punitive operations.
§ Mr. PadleyI am told that four British subjects underwent police investigations in mid-July, but no charges have been brought against them. As to the second part of the hon. and gallant Member's Question, I am satisfied that it is the Sudan Government's firm policy not to involve British seconded personnel in armed operations.
