HC Deb 02 August 1965 vol 717 cc237-8W
77. Mr. Deedes

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has authorised the continuance of the existing senior posts serving the Nature Conservancy; and whether he is satisfied that the Nature Conservancy can fully discharge its Charter responsibilities on the basis of the posts to be provided.

Mr. Crosland

I have approved the proposals submitted to me by the Natural Environment Research Council for the senior Headquarters staff serving the Nature Conservancy. The next Director of the Nature Conservancy will be a scientist appointed at the upper level of the Chief Scientific Officer grade, the salary of which is £4,700 per annum. He

mission to Basingstoke was announced by the then Chief Secretary to the Treasury on 24th March, 1964. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Land and Natural Resources said on 28th June, 1965, in reply to a Question by the hon. Member for West Fife, that the Government have reviewed and confirmed that decision.
