HC Deb 02 August 1965 vol 717 c220W
Mr. Symonds

asked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources what progress is being made with feasibility studies of the projected barrages at Morecambe Bay and Solway Firth; and what is the estimated cost of these studies.

Mr. Willey

Sir Alexander Gibb & Partners and Messrs. Babtie Shaw & Morton have now submitted their respective programmes of investigation. With the Water Resources Board I am now examining that for Morecambe Bay and, in conjunction with my right hon. Friend, that for Solway Firth.

The consultants have estimated that the total costs will be £324,000 for Morecambe Bay and £300,000 for Solway Firth.
