HC Deb 02 August 1965 vol 717 c229W
71. Mr. Dance

asked the Minister of Labour whether grants under the Industrial Training Act, 1964, will be available for individuals taking courses in management and supervision.

Mr. Gunter

The Construction, Engineering, Wool and Shipbuilding Industry Training Boards will pay grants to employers in respect of management and supervisory training approved by the Board; other Boards will no doubt be giving attention to this aspect of training in due course.

72. Mr. Dance

asked the Minister of Labour whether grants under the Industrial Training Act, 1964, will be available for individuals training to be shop stewards.

Mr. Gunter

It is within the powers of an Industrial Training Board, if it so wishes, to submit to me proposals that it should pay grants in respect of courses for the training of shop stewards, employed in its industry.

Mr. Alan Williams

asked the Minister of Labour what plans he has for supplementing skilled labour scarcities by encouraging the training of women workers.

Mr. Gunter

It will be the responsibility of the Industrial Training Boards, as these are established, to see that sufficient men and women are trained to meet their industries' needs.
