§ Q6. Mr. Turtonasked the Prime Minister whether, in his communication received by the Prime Minister of Rhodesia on 30th March, he informed him of the terms on which Her Majesty's Government would be prepared to grant independence to Rhodesia.
§ The Prime MinisterMy exchanges with the Prime Minister of Rhodesia remain confidential. I cannot report substantial progress and the position has of course been complicated by Mr. Smith's decision to hold elections on 7th May. However, I remain in touch with him and I trust that it will be possible to carry negotiations forward after the election.
