Mr. Shepherdasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will set up a departmental inquiry to determine the extent of the import of manufactured goods into the United Kingdom, and to inquire, where these goods could be equally well made in this country, into the reasons why these goods have not been so produced.
§ Mr. RedheadNo. These matters are already the subject of detailed study by Departments. The Economic Development Committees on which both sides of industry and Government Departments are represented have been directed to give particular attention to these questions in relation to the particular industries with which they are concerned.
