§ 64. Dame Irene Wardasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he proposes to take concerning the effect of the Corporation Tax on the future 85W attraction of new industry to the North-East, in view of the statement made by Mr. George Chetwynd, Secretary of the North-East Development Council, details of which have been sent to him, concerning the disadvantages of the tax in this regard.
§ Mr. CallaghanI have taken careful note of this statement, but I do not share the views expressed in it as a considerable margin of preference will be retained by the North-East.
