HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 c55W
16. Mr. Rowland

asked the Minister of Transport what estimate he has made of the reduction in the cost of seat belts which would follow from their being made compulsory, thereby increasing the volume of demand.

Mr. Swingler

While the mass production of seat belts which would follow from their being made compulsory would no doubt reduce their cost it would be impossible, without extensive investigations, to produce any worthwhile estimate of what the reductions might be.
