Mr. Rhodes

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what percentage of those children in primary schools in the constituency of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, East, who were considered for grammar school places in each of the years 1962, 1963 and 1964 were actually allocated places in such schools; and what were the overall percentages for the primary schools grouped in the Dene, Heaton, Walkergate, St. Lawrence and Walker wards, respectively.

The table below gives percentages of pupils in primary schools in the constituency of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, who were allocated places in grammar or technical schools, in the last three years:

steps he is taking to safeguard British personnel and interests in India and Pakistan that may be endangered through hostilities between India and Pakistan in the Rann of Kutch; and if he will make a statement.

We are naturally greatly concerned by the reports of hostilities in the Rann of Kutch. We are in touch with both sides, but I would prefer to say no more at the present time. We do not consider that British personnel and interests in India and Pakistan are in any danger at the moment.
