HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 c63W
Mr. McMaster

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many new ships have been ordered by the Admiralty since the end of October, 1964; in how many cases Messrs. Harland and Wolff have submitted a tender; and how many of these have been successful.

Mr. Mayhew

Three stores support ships; two guided missile destroyers: and three frigates, of which one is to be built in a Royal dockyard. Information about tenders submitted by a contractor is a matter of commercial confidence between the firm and the Navy Department. None of the vessels mentioned was ordered from Messrs. Harland and Wolff.
