HC Deb 28 April 1965 vol 711 c49W
46. Mr. Shepherd

asked the Minister of Transport what has been the experience to date with the box system at road junctions; and whether it is intended to make these permanent.

Mr. Tom Fraser

Generally the experimental box markings have improved conditions and reduced delays, particularly to side road traffic at busier junctions. But most markings were put down as recently as January, and more experience is needed before the future of the system can be considered. It will fall to the Greater London Council to review the working of the experiment so far as London is concerned.
