HC Deb 26 April 1965 vol 711 c9W
44. Mr. Rose

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance whether she will examine the system of prescribed industrial diseases with a view to substituting benefit in all cases where a disease has, on the balance of probability, been caused by the nature of the victim's employment.

This particular suggestion was carefully examined by an expert and authoritative Committee under the chairmanship of Mr. F. W. Beney, Q.C., as part of a comprehensive review of the diseases provisions of the Industrial Injuries Act, 1946. The Committee whose report was published in 1955—Command Paper N o. 9548—concluded that a change on the lines now suggested by my hon. Friend would not be a practicable proposition.
