§ Mr. MacCollDuring 1964, 6,282 applications were made for standard grants and 88 for discretionary grants in the City of Birmingham. 70 per cent. of the applications for standard grant were from Birmingham Corporation, 16 per cent. from owner-occupiers and 14 per cent. from private landlords; 7 per cent. of the applications for discretionary; grants were from the Corporation, 18 per cent. from owner-occupiers and 75 per cent. from landlords.
