HC Deb 14 April 1965 vol 710 cc197-8W
41. Mr. Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the decline in population in the north-east of Scotland and Upper Banffshire, respectively, between the years 1951 and 1961; and what further decline in population occurred in the same areas between 1961 and the end of March, 1965, respectively.

Mr. Willis

Between 1951 and 1961 the population of the counties of Aberdeen, Banff, Kincardine, Moray and Nairn (including all burghs) declined by 9,349, and the estimated further decline between 1961 and June, 1964–the last date for which figures are available—was 208. The corresponding figures for Upper Banffshire were 1,032 and 265.
