§ 36. Mr. Shinwellasked the Minister of Overseas Development what additional assistance has been given to members of Commonwealth countries since November, 1964; and in what form it has been given.
§ Mrs. Castle,pursuant to her reply [OFFICIAL REPORT, 13th April, 1965; Vol. 710, c. 157–8], supplied the following information:
NEW PLEDGES OF DEVELOPMENT AND BUDGETARY AID TO THE INDEPENDENT COMMONWEALTH SINCE 1ST NOVEMBER 1964 Trinidad £1.2m. Loan under Section 3 of the Export Guarantees Act, 1949, for the purchase of buses. The period is 25 years, of which the first five will be free of repayments of capital. Malawi £7.75m. Grants for recurrent expenditure and capital projects in 1965. Zambia £1lm. £1m.Grant towards the development of the new University of Zambia; £10m. for other purposes on terms to be agreed.
