HC Deb 14 April 1965 vol 710 c219W
Mr. Weitzman

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will give a direction, under Section 14(4) of the Licence and Agreement, to the British Broadcasting Corporation not to include views on matters of public policy which have no foundation in fact in fictitious dramatic serial programmes.

Mr. Benn

Programmes are the responsibility of the broadcasting authorities themselves. The B.B.C. is under a duty to treat controversial subjects with due impartiality.
