HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 cc140-1W
61. Mr. Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he intends to publish the first report of the Probation Research Project which was set up in 1962; and whether he will make a statement on the proposed future work of the Probation Research Project.

Sir F. Soskice

I hope to publish soon a first report explaining the project and describing a pilot study carried out in Middlesex. Several other reports are under preparation.

The project as at present planned should take about three more years to complete. It includes a national study of types of probation treatment related to different kinds of offenders, and a series of supporting studies mainly related to the nature of probation treatment and the classification of offenders.
