asked the Minister of Health, in view of the circular issued by the Executive Council for Gloucester Council and City dealing with the abnormal demand for prescription pads and medical certificates, a copy of which has been sent to him, he will give figures for the increase in prescriptions dispensed since the abolition of the charges.

The monthly numbers of prescriptions dispensed by chemists in this area in January and February, 1965, were, respectively, 189,015 and 201,810. The following table sets out, for comparison, the numbers dispensed during the same months in the earlier years since 1959:
