HC Deb 12 April 1965 vol 710 c143W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will be the cost of withdrawing initial allowances for motor cars to the agricultural industries.

Mr. MacDermot

Not more than £1 million a year.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the withdrawal of initial allowances on motor cars includes vehicles which are not subject to Purchase Tax used by the agricultural industry.

Mr. MacDermot

The proposal is to withdraw the initial allowance for vehicles of a type commonly used as private cars. If new, such vehicles would normally be liable to Purchase Tax.
