HC Deb 02 April 1965 vol 709 cc307-8W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what increase or decrease in staff there has been in the Department under his control since 16th October, 1964; and what increase or decrease he anticipates in the period up to 15th October, 1965.

Mr. C. Pannell

I expect to reduce the total staff of the Ministry by about 2,000 between October, 1964, and October, 1965. This will involve an increase of 1,052 in non-industrial staff and a decrease of over 3,000 in industrial staff. I expect the non-industrial staff to have increased by 429 by 1st April, 1965, but cannot precisely forecast the number of industrial staff, which fluctuates and is affected by seasonal employment.
