§ Mr. Barnettasked the Minister of Transport if he will refuse all proposed rail closures in the Greater Manchester area, particularly those affecting the Manchester-Oldham-Rochdale, Manchester-Rochdale-Todmorden lines and the Heywood, Broadfield, stations, in view of the survey of the Greater Manchester area at present in progress under the auspices of his Department and the local authorities concerned.
§ Mr. Tom FraserI cannot say what view I shall take of any particular passenger closure proposal until it comes to me and I have examined the evidence. I shall consider all proposals in accordance with the general policy I announced in my statement on 4th November.
