§ Mr. George Y. Mackieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will grant assistance to fisherman who have bought vessels under the grant and loan scheme, and are now faced with large bills for repair of wood rot in these vessels.
§ Mr. RossThere is no statutory authority for grants to be made to fishermen to assist with the cost of repairs and on the information before me I do not think I should be justified in seeking such authority; but I have asked my noble Friend, the Joint Under-Secretary of State, to discuss the problem with the fishermen's representatives.
