§ Mr. MellishThe Department is not proposing to build timber houses, but is helping the Canadian Government to introduce timber house-building techniques into this country in collaboration with other Departments and public authorities. My right hon. Friend has no reason to believe that the temporary import surcharge will affect the Canadian Government's plans, since the first major project, of 200 houses, is not expected to begin until the spring of 1966.
