§ Mr. Staintonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give estimates of the net return per acre of sugar beet to farmers in East Anglia in the seasons 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963.
§ Mr. HoyNo estimates are made in my Department of the net return to farmers per acre of sugar beet, but, according to surveys carried out by the Farm Economics Branch of Cambridge University, the figures for samples of 60 farms in Eastern England in 1961 and 1962 were £26 1s. 0d. and £20 19s. 0d. respectively. No information is available for Eastern England for the other two years.
