Mr. Woodburn

asked the Prime Minister what duties are assigned to the Minister without Portfolio in this House.

The Prime Minister

It is proposed to establish under my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor a Law Commission to deal with Law Reform, and keep the law under constant review. My hon. Friend the Minister without Portfolio will be the representative in this House for the work of this Commission when established.

My hon. Friend will also assist in such duties with regard to legislation as may from time to time be assigned to him.

My hon. Friend the Minister without Portfolio will answer in this House for the departmental responsibilities of my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor with regard to Law Reform, Legal Aid, Land Registration, the Public Trustee and the Public Records Office.
