§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he is aware that the drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea will damage the health, development and fertility of fish there, and the fishing industry, and will deprive British people of fish for food; and if he will state his plans to prevent this damage.
§ Mr. HoyI am advised that drilling for oil and gas in the North Sea is not likely to have the effect my hon. and learned Friend thinks. Nevertheless arrangements are being made to reduce to the minimum any unavoidable interference with the fishing industry.
