§ Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if, after consultation with the French Government, he will approach the Government of the New Hebrides Condominium and ask if the latter Government wishes the enlarged Admiralty jurisdiction conferred upon the High Court of the United Kingdom by the Administration of Justice Act. 1956, to be extended to the New Hebrides Condominium by an Order in Council or other appropriate means.
§ Mr. GreenwoodIt is unnecessary for me to consult the French Government on this matter. The High Court for the Western Pacific is a Colonial Court of Admiralty whose jurisdiction already extends over the New Hebrides. The Resident Commissioner has agreed a draft Order in Council extending the Administration of Justice Act, 1956, subject to the provisions of the Protocol to the Condominium, but the High Commissioner Western Pacific's agreement has not yet reached me.
