Mrs. Lena Jegerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many prosecutions have been brought in the last five years, or other convenient period, by local authorities under the powers of Section 10 of the Furnished Houses (Rent Control) Act, 1946, against landlords who have charged rents in excess of the registered rent fixed by rent tribunals.
§ Mr. CrossmanIn the five years 1959 to 1963 there were 156 prosecutions by local authorities under Section 10 of the 35W Furnished Houses (Rent Control) Act, 1946, but I do not know how many of these were brought against landlords for charging rents in excess of those fixed by rent tribunals.
