Member for Tynemouth.

§ Sir E. BoyleI share my hon. Friend's desire for the continued development of technological education in the North-East, and I have every confidence that the Rutherford College of Technology will continue to play a part of great importance in both education and the advancement of learning. The designation of another College of Advanced Technology would however imply, in effect, the designation of a new university, which is a matter for consideration in due course by the University Grants Committee.
