HC Deb 04 May 1964 vol 694 cc116-7W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Minister of Health what is the total amount still remaining in the account to be disbursed to general practitioners as compensation for loss of the right to sell practices; and what would be its equivalent value if brought up to current values.

Mr. Braine

£27,316,523 at 31st March, 1964, for Great Britain, ignoring interest. An equivalent sum, after adjustment by reference to movement in the consumer price index between 1946 and 1963, would be about £50 million.
