HC Deb 04 May 1964 vol 694 c119W
52. Sir A. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what percentages of home-produced cattle, sheep and pigs marketed for slaughter in the first three months of this year were exported to Europe alive or as carcase meat.

Mr. Soames

3.4 per cent. of cattle, 3.3 per cent. of sheep, and 3.8 per cent. of pigs. These figures are percentages of United Kingdom production expressed in terms of live cattle, sheep and pigs. Carcase meat exports have been converted to a live animal basis.
