Separate figures for England and Wales are not available. The numbers of chemists shops, drug stores and appliance suppliers in contract under the National Health Service in England and Wales were 15,681, 15,468 and 15,208. There are also dispensing points at hospitals, doctors' surgeries and elsewhere.
