§ 47. Mr. Brockwayasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if, in view of the unanimous condemnation by the Constitutional Council set up by the Sandys-Whitehead 1961 Constitution of the Land Apportionment Act as the main instrument of racial segregation and discrimination in Southern Rhodesia, he will make its repeal a condition of the grant of sovereignty to the territory.
§ 52. Mrs. Castleasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he will now publish as a White Paper the terms for the granting of independence to Southern Rhodesia which have been conveyed to the Prime Minister of Southern Rhodesia.
§ Mr. HornbyHer Majesty's Government have not sought to lay down specific conditions for the granting of independence to Southern Rhodesia, but as the House will be aware from the250W correspondence with the Southern Rhodesia Government, published as a White Paper last year, the future development of that Government's policy on non-discrimination has been one of the matters discussed with them in this context.
