HC Deb 04 March 1964 vol 690 c236W
Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Agriculture. Fisheries and Food what proportion of the home market was supplied with British-made butter before the war; and what proportion is now so supplied.

Mr. Scott-Hopkins

On average about 9 per cent. during the last three years before the war and about 12 per cent. during 1961–63.

Miss Quennell

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the average price per gallon for milk supplied by the Milk Marketing Board to butter manufacturers this winter.

Mr. Scott Hopkins

I understand that the final price for milk for butter-making during the past five months is not yet known but that the Milk Marketing Board's average provision price for this period was Is. 5½d. a gallon.
