HC Deb 03 March 1964 vol 690 cc202-3W
Mr. Bottomley

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what documentation is required for the issue of British passports to persons born in Hong Kong and resident there; and whether he is satisfied that every resident person entitled to such a passport is given every facility to obtain it.

Mr. Tilney

Evidence of birth in Hong Kong and of intention to travel are required. Students must produce proof of acceptance by an overseas institution. Persons travelling to Britain for employment must produce an employment voucher from the British Ministry of Labour.

I am satisfied that every facility to obtain a British passport is given to persons who require and may be entitled to one.
