§ 52. Mr. Leaveyasked the Minister of Health whether there is any known connection between cigarette smoking and diseases other than lung cancer.
§ Mr. BarberYes. Studies have shown that as well as the causal relationship with cancer of the lung, there is a definite connection between cigarette smoking and bronchitis, emphysema and cancer of the larynx, of the oral cavity and of the oesophagus, and a probable but less clear connection with stomach and duodenal ulcers and coronary artery disease.
