§ Q12. Dr. A. Thompsonasked the Prime Minister what further consultations he has had with the Prime Ministers of other Commonwealth countries on the proposal to set up a World Health Research Centre; and whether he will make a statement.
§ The Prime MinisterIt is too early to reach any decision. The Organisation is obtaining the views of Member States on a preliminary study of the need for such a Centre and will probably report to the Assembly in May, 1965. We have told the Organisation that we are in favour of part of the plan but not all of it. But we do not know what will emerge as a firm proposal nor whether the Assembly will decide to establish a Centre. We are keeping the Commonwealth Governments informed of our views.
