§ Dr. Broughtonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs what action he proposes to take towards solving the housing problem in the Borough of Batley.
§ Sir K. JosephOfficers of my North West Regional Office, which was set up to help the local authorities with the heaviest slum clearance problems, are in close touch with the council and are giving all the help they can towards increasing Batley's rate of house-building. Arrangements are also going forward for Batley to join a group with Bradford, Dewsbury, Wakefield and other neighbouring authorities so that by working together they can employ the latest building techniques and make the most effective use of the available building labour. I look forward to seeing something of what the council are doing when I visit Batley at the beginning of next month.
