HC Deb 16 June 1964 vol 696 cc171-2W
Mr. Merlyn Rees

asked the Minister of Aviation if he is aware that the French Government have refused approval for BKS Air Transport Limited to operate a service from the Leeds and Bradford Airport to Paris, despite the fact that a licence had been granted by the Air Transport Licensing Board; and, in view of the assessment of the demand for such a direct service in the West Riding made by the Leeds and Bradford Airport Joint Committee, if he will open discussions with the French Government with a view to securing a reversal of their decision.

Mr. Amery

The French authorities were urged to agree to this new BKS service at talks in April, but refused on the grounds that it would divert traffic from the existing Manchester-Paris services. We shall continue to seek a reversal of this decision.
