asked the Minister of Transport when he proposes to take further steps to control the emission of smoke and fumes from diesel vehicles.

The studies described in the Answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Dunfermline (Dr. A. Thompson) on 26th February are still in progress.

I am not yet able to say when I may wish to propose amendment of the Regulations governing the emission of smoke from diesel vehicles.
