§ 37. Mr. Jegerasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations and the Colonies whether the supervision of expenditure of large sums of money con tributed for development projects in British Guiana has now been improved, in view of the information contained in the Fourth Report from the Committee of Public Accounts.
§ Mr. SandysYes. The British Guiana Government have enacted a new Financial Administration and Audit Ordinance; have appointed Permanent Secretaries as Accounting Officers, and have established a Financial Inspection Division. I have also made it clear that my prior approval is necessary before expenditure is incurred on projects not included in the approved development estimates.
