HC Deb 04 June 1964 vol 695 cc190-1W
Mr. Worsley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, Trade and Regional Development whether he is yet in a position to make a statement about a regional study for Yorkshire.

Mr. Heath

I have arranged for the necessary preliminary work to be put in hand on the assembly and collation of the basis factual material which will need to be taken into account in considering the future development of the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire, and adjacent areas. This will be done under the leadership of the Board of Trade's Regional Controller in Leeds working under the general direction of the Interdepartmental Steering Group on Regional Development which reports to me in London. A full scale study will follow in due course.
