Mr. Thorntonasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations and the Colonies what progress has been made towards implementing an alternative arrangement to the nationalisation of the two privately owned electricity supply companies recommended by the Hong Kong Electricity Supply Commission in January, 1960; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. SandysIt has been decided to introduce legislation as soon as possible for the purpose of imposing control on the tariffs and dividends of the two supply companies. In return the companies will be granted certain rights which they do not hold at present.
