Mr. Merlyn Reesasked the Minister of Aviation if he will investigate the development of value analysis techniques in the United States of America, which it is claimed drastically reduce costs, with special relevance to the field of defence contracting; and if he will make a statement with regard to its possible use in this country.
§ Mr. MartenMy colleagues in the Ministry of Defence and I are already investigating the application of value analysis to defence contracts. Several major companies already apply the technique and my right hon. Friend has written to the aircraft and electronics industries generally recommending its wider use.
