§ Mr. Symondsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what has been the total amount of grants paid to farmers in the County of Cumberland under the Farm Improvement and Small Farmers Schemes.
§ Mr. Scott-HopkinsUnder the Small Farmer Scheme, the amount of grant paid to farmers in Cumberland up to 30th June, 1964, was £285,115. I regret that, without undue expenditure of time and labour, figures for the Farm Improvement Scheme can be given only for the Ministry's local Division, which covers both Cumberland and Westmorland; up to 30th June, 1964, 5,729 applications had been approved in these two counties at a total estimated cost of £3,757,511, and £1,015,233 had already been paid in grants.
